The Defense Services of Myanmar announced on December 31 that military operations will be continued to cease from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023 across the country except the situations threatening the national security and executive mechanisms.

According to the statement, an extension of the cease-fire was built aiming to achieve and maintain #internal_peace, to promote the peace processes effectively, and to effectively carry out the prevention measures for Covid-19.

The #75th_Independence_Day_of_Myanmar will fall on the next two days, January 4, 2023.

The Defense Services proclaims that ‘Will full essence of the Independence be gained only if the internal peace is guaranteed and the internal armed conflict is resolved’.

As a matter of fact, the #Myanmar_Military (Tatmadaw) has bilaterally ceased firing from 2018 December 21 to the end of 2022 for more than four years, Tatmadaw says.

Chairman of the State Administration Council and the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing invited all ethnic armed forces on April 22, 2022, for peace.

At present, a total of ten EAOs of both NCA signatory and non-signatory groups including DKBA, KNU/ KNLA PC, PNLO, NMSP, ALP, RCSS (SSA), LDU, UWSA, NDAA, and SSPP (SSA) attended the peace talks for two times respectively in 2022.

The Myanmar Military announced earlier that the year 2022 was regarded as the peace year.
