Myanmar discusses resolving issues related to its migrants in troubles in Thailand

A work negotiation meeting was conducted in Naypyidaw’s Office No. 9, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 5 discussing to resolve difficulties encountered by the Myanmar national migrants in Thailand.
The meeting discussed the issues related to getting a legal status of residing in #Thailand; extension of passports; issuing fresh passports; and issuing a certificate of identification for the illegal and undocumented #Myanmar_migrants.
Both short-term and long-term plans were discussed, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
An estimated five million Myanmar nationals are residing for both work and educational opportunities in Thailand at the time. Amongst, three million are assumed to be residing under illegal statuses.
