The District Chairperson of Karen National Union Brigade No. 6, Saw Shwe Maung, requested the non-State armed troops to negotiate through the political dialogue if they really value the interests of the Kayin people.

He said, “I believe that much benefit will be formulated if we hold discussions and talks instead of fighting and shooting. I don’t want the civil war.”

At the time being, armed conflicts occurred again in Kayin State.

Saw Shwe Maung said, “Kayin people are running away although they should have been working for cultivations and agricultures; and children should have been schooling and studying as there are clashes within the region,” raising question that “Is it the real outcomes that they really wanted and what they took an oath for? Do they believe if their mission can be accomplished by fighting?”

National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) recently repeatedly declared that the State Administration Council is still opening the door for the peace despite of the KNU’s recent statement which calls for confrontation.
