According to the Ministry of Cooperative and Rural Development, discussions are being conducted to build the fertilizer factories in four regions including Yangon, Naypyidaw, Ayeyawaddy and Magway regions by cooperation between Myanmar and Russia.
The coordination meeting was attended by the Union Minister for Cooperative and Rural Development Hla Moe and Russian Roscongress Investment Fund.
The Russian investment group and Myanmar discussed ways to build three portable chemical fertilizer factories as an initial step.
The expenses on imports of fertilizer will be reduced if Myanmar produced its owned fertilizer locally.
The domestic demand on fertilizer has been increasing annually and over 2.2 million tons were imported in previous financial year.
