The local residents reported that over 5,000 Myanmar citizens are waiting to cross to Ruili via the China-Myanmar border.

It has been reported that the Muse-Ruili Temporary Border Pass (TBP) system was launched on September 4th, and currently, there is a significantly larger number of people wishing to cross to the Chinese side of Ruili.

A local person told NP News that “On October 5th, more than 2,000 to 3,000 people were queuing, and the number has been reaching up to 5,000. Most of them were waiting to pass to work there, while some were visiting because their family members were present."

"The gate can allow approximately 580 people per day, while nearly 3,000 individuals are waiting for their turn to receive a token. Some have even fainted while waiting in the queue. There is no specified appointment time or date for token issuance, forcing people to come and endure long wait times, incurring significant expenses," he added.

Hence, among those awaiting tokens, there are individuals who have traveled from distant locations. As a result, local CSOs in Muse are also assisting them with their accommodation needs.
