Former KNU high leaders convinces SAC willingness for peace

Regarding to the meeting with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the former Du Palayar District of Karen National Union Padoh Saw Shwe Maung asserted that it is obvious that the State Administration Council (SAC) desires for peace and Kayin people truly desire the peace.

NP News made an exclusive interview with Padoh Saw Shwe Maung on October 4.

During the interview, Padoh Saw Shwe Maung said “Regarding to the matters during the talk, we discussed about the forward plan for internal peace. I can see that they also desire the peace.”

On September 30, the former KNU chairman Saw Mutu Say Poe along with the former KNU Central Executive Committee member Saw Raja Khin, and KNU’s former Du Palayar District Padoh Saw Shwe Maung met with the Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC), Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in Naypyidaw, according to the news released by the SAC.

He continued “Our local people want peace. So, they don’t want to be stuck in the war as before. They all claim for actions to get peace and stop wars. The majority population of Kayin ethnic desires for peace.”

On 29th September, Saw Mutu Say Poe met with the public in KNU’s Brigade 6 territory and listened to the Kayin people’s voices.

He highlighted “One of the residents from Brigade 6 told him during such direct talk that people really want the internal peace and eager to know what will happen next,” continuing that internal peace is essential and people will have to sacrifice their homes and lives if war is continued.

On the other side, the KNU has been battling with Tatmadaw throughout Kayin State, especially in Tantaunggyi, Kyainseikgyi, Payar Thone Suu, Myawaddy, Kawkareik, Bawkali and Mawchee allied with PDF terrorists.
