Maintenance works conducted on Bago flooded railway lines

The State Administration Council (SAC) released the news that the Yangon-Mandalay railway line and the Bago-Mawlamyaing railway line are now undergoing post-flood inspections and maintenance to ensure their strength and safety to be able to run for normal schedules.

The SAC released the news on 11th October.

Starting from 8th October, there was a heavy rainfall in Bago Region. Due to the heavy rain, severe flood occured at the lower part of Yangon-Mandalay railway between Bago train station and Shwe Hlaye train station; and Bago-Mawlamyaing railway between Bago train station - Kali train station and Naung Pattaya station.

Because of the severe flood, passengers from the two trains were transported to Yangon by coach expresses and the train schedule between Yangon-Mandalay and Yangon-Mawlamyaing were temporarily cancelled.

On 11th October, the water started to recede and the responsible personnels from Myanmar Railway checked the stamina of the railway line with freight train nine carriages fully loaded with rocks.

After the checking the safety and strength, authorities are conducting the maintenance works on the railway.

Similarly, the maintenance works are also done between Bago station and Kali station starting from 10th October. The necessary maintenance work on the railway such as laying rocks and enforcement work on the railway lines are conducting for the trains to be able to run on regular schedule.
