Htigyaing City was raided by KIA and PDF terrorist groups with massive troops and disproportionate forces in recent days.
It is reported that following their raid on the area, they unlawfully invaded civilian properties; extrajudicially assassinated local residents, collected extortion money, set ablaze the civilian houses and government offices, and planted mines within the city.
Moreover, they committed war crimes by making human shields of the local civilians, planting mines on the roads, and constructing bunkers with sandbags at religious buildings, schools, departmental infrastructures, and civilian houses.
Therefore, the Tatmadaw initiated a counter-operation against the terrorists. Following the armed conflicts, Tatmadaw declared a successful regain of Htigyaing City on 12th November.
The KIAs and PDFs retreated as they weren’t able to stand the Tatmadaw’s military operation. In their way of withdrawing, the terrorists torched and sabotaged civilian houses and government buildings.
After regaining control of Htigyaing, Tatmadaw security forces undertook clearance of debris and deployed mines, and maintenance of civilian properties such as schools.
Amidst the armed clashes, there were reported casualties among security personnel, with some confirmed dead and many wounded. Additionally, discoveries included firearms, heavy weapons, ammunition, devices, materials associated with terrorist activities, explosives, and deceased individuals from KIA and PDF.
