Religious personnel from 14 countries sit entrance exam for diploma in Buddha Dhamma at International Theravāda University

Monks, nuns and laypersons from a total of 14 countries took part in the entrance exam for the Diploma in Buddha Dhamma at the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University.

The exam was conducted on 9 January at the International Theravāda Buddhist Missionary University located on the Dhammapãla Hill in Mayangon Township.

Local monks, nuns, and laypersons were required to take the entrance exam in person, whereas individuals from 14 other countries, including monks and nuns, underwent interviews through the Virtual Zoom Meeting Online System. In total, there were 178 candidates.

The Rector of the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, (Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Maha Dhamma Kathika Bahujanahitadhara) Dr. Bhaddanta Chekinda, along with Venerable Lecturer Monks, Pro-rector (Administration) U Sein Maw, and other officials, had encouraged these candidates.

It has been reported that the oral examination will continue on January 10th after the candidates have completed the written test.
