ASEAN special envoy meets with 7 EAOs; expecting peace for betterment

It is reported that the ASEAN special envoy Alounkeo Kittikhoun and representatives from seven ethnic armed organizations on 10 January in Naypyidaw. The special envoy hopes to get peace for the betterment of Myanmar.

According to one of the representatives from the EAOs, the ASEAN envoy reportedly remarked that political crisis of Myanmar is deeply rooted and very complicated.

The EAO representative recounted, “The special envoy explained us how he will approach to resolve the Myanmar issue; what his policy is and how to approach. The EAO representatives exchanged their own perspectives. The special envoy remarked that political crisis of Myanmar is very complicated.”

However, the special envoy reportedly said that Loas will be involved in assisting to resolve the Myanmar’s peace process.

The EAO representative commented, “It is good for Myanmar that the special envoy is truly willing to assist to resolve the Myanmar’s crisis.”

In addition, the special envoy is willing to listen to the different opinions of the relevant stakeholders, involving the EAOs, political parties, and exiled persons with regard to the Myanmar issue.

The ASEAN special envoy schedules to meet with the political parties in Yangon on 12 January.
