Almost 40 power towers destroyed by terrorists in 2023; 33 of them remain to be fixed

Within 2023, nearly 40 power towers were detonated by terrorists and 33 were remained to repair, according to the Ministry of Electric Power (MOEP).

A total of 59 times exploded the power distribution lines and 39 power towers were grounded in 2023. Therefore, the MOEP conducted the repairing processes and completed only six power grid lines.

According to the MOEP, 26 poles from five power grid lines of 230 KV, three poles from four power grid lines of 132 KV, and four poles from five power grid lines of 66 KV, a total of 33 electric power grid lines remain to be repaired.

From 2021 to December 2023, there were 89 electricity towers detonated, totaling 118 times, according to the Ministry.

“From 2021 to December 2023, a total of 89 towers were destroyed by mines, totaling 118 times. Kayah State and Nyaunglebin District in eastern Bago were the most targeted,” an official from the MOEP told NP News.

Due to the detonation and burning of electricity towers, the development of the country and the people who use electricity every day are causing a lot of harm and loss.
