New matric exam system commences today (11 March)

The new course of matriculation exam started on 11 March morning across Myanmar for 2024 Academic Year.

The exam started with Myanmar Subject followed by English on 12 March, Mathematics on 13 March, Chemistry and Geology on 14 March, Physics and History on 15 March, Biology and Economics on 16 March, Social Science on 18 March and Optional Myanmar on 19 March.

“My son is going to sit exam. So, I am so excited. I believe he can do this,” a mother of a student from secondary school in Mayangon Township, Yangon said.

The reports state that a total of 145,200 students registered for matriculation exam of 2024 Academic Year.

In addition, the Ministry of Electric Power (MOEP) has announced that up to 54,000 megawatt hours of electricity will be distributed daily during the exam period for ensuring the convenience for students taking the matriculation exam.

The relevant departments negotiated to temporarily stop the factories and workshops which use a lot of electricity during the exam period and managed to produce full electricity capacity from hydropower plants, natural gas quota and dams.

The MOEP also announced that additional power has been distributed through diesel generators to the areas where the electricity accessibility is limited and have the security concerns.
