NLD’s secretary U Han Thar Myint reportedly fled Myanmar

Reports are circulating among members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) that U Han Thar Myint, the Secretary General of the NLD and father-in-law of Nay Phone Latt from the outlaw NUG has fled Myanmar and is now in Thailand.

U Han Thar Myint was released from Insein prison on 27 January 2022 under section 401, sub-section (1) of the Criminal Code. Two years after his release, it appears that he abruptly fled from Myanmar.

A reliable source from the NLD in Mae Sot has reported, "There has been much discussion regarding U Han Thar Myint's departure from the country. Some speculate that he has fled. It appears that he has indeed left. Reports indicate that individuals in Mae Sot have personally sighted him. It seems that the intelligence of the State Administration Council (SAC)either failed to notice or was not aware of his departure."

The news about U Han Thar Myint has been circulating among the NLD members who advocate for peaceful resolutions to political issues, and they find the news quite surprising.

Alongside U Han Thar Myint, reports also indicate that several NLD party members have fled, including Dr. Myo Nyunt, the NLD spokesperson, and U Myo Myint, the founder of the Myanmar Development Institute (MDI) who received financial backing from George Soros.

Reports also state that U Han Thar Myint managed to attain opportunities for his sons and daughters to get good statuses by exploiting when the power was ruled by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

NLD community assumes that U Han Thar Myint’s departing for Mae Sot is manipulated and play by Nay Phone Latt.

Nay Phone Latt, who take position titled by himself as a member of work committee of the NLD in exile frequently dismissed and intimidated the NLD senior members who is currently residing within the country peacefully.
