Efforts to extract oil and natural gas from unexplored rock formations

According to the Union Minister of Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, the ministry is making efforts to extract oil and natural gas from unexplored rock formations. The minister addressed it during the workshop on energy security and energy transformation which was held at the Ministry of Energy's Office in recent days.

U Ko Ko Lwin mentioned that in the process of energy transition, Green Energy resources must be variated and natural gas defined as the Clean Energy must be used as an intermediate step.

In addition, among fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas, natural gas emits the least amount of carbon dioxide, and the Ministry is using all methods to meet the nation's natural gas demand.

The Union Minister also mentioned that the ministry is making efforts to increase the production of natural gas by using modern technologies to improve production from the currently producing oil and natural gas fields and to extract oil and natural gas from unexplored rock formations.

He also urged to make the steadfast efforts to identify new oil and gas fields both onshore and offshore.
