Myanmar Foreign Affairs Minister U Than Swe and Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Deng Xijun met on 18 June in Naypyidaw.

However, the ministry did not release the details of the discussion except for the matters about further enhancement of the existing “Pauk-Phaw” relations, maintenance of peace and stability along the border between Myanmar and China, the acceleration of Myanmar-China bilateral relations, and the mutually beneficial cooperation in both regional and international arena, especially in ASEAN and United Nations.

There are many nations which positively involved in resolving the Myanmar issue. China is one of them.

Election and Tatmadaw play key roles in restoring Myanmar to normalcy. Having 135 ethnicities, and more than 100 ethnic armed groups, the country’s sovereignty, stability, and peace largely depend on the strength of Tatmadaw. China, ASEAN nations, and the countries that are willing to help Myanmar get out of this vicious condition are required to appreciate the crucial position of the Tatmadaw in Myanmar's political arena.

Townships in the north and northeast of Myanmar especially those lands territorially connected to China transformed into the conflict zones after 27 October 2023. Shan State has been silent with no firing after the 2021 political transition until the said Operation 1027 in northern Shan State. Since then, Tatmadaw has had another frontline battle in addition to combating the insurrections across the country.

At present, the fire exchange is temporarily calm in Shan State thanks to the Haigeng Agreement. However, disputes arise between the non-state armed groups to get influence over lands where they can extort money from the public. Especially, the TNLA (Ta’ang) and KIA (Kachin) frequently have arguments overruling the territories. Although their common enemy was the Tatmadaw before, the insurgents turned their aggressiveness to each other to gain lands.

Reports also state that battle signs have been alerted near Lashio by the insurgents despite the Haigeng Agreement though Tatmadaw remains and respects the agreement.
