Gunmen from members of the People's Defense Force (PDF) shot and killed a rising singer in Myo Thit Township, Magway Region, inside his residence on July 5th, according to a source who spoke to NP News.

The incident occurred on July 5th, at approximately 5:00 PM, near the Myo Thit-Natmauk Road in Myaungyegon Village, located within Myo Thit Township.

"He ran a ticket booth for cars going to Tachileik and Yangon on that road. It's on the outskirts of Myaungyegon Village. On that day, around 5:00 PM, two people arrived on motorcycles and asked to buy tickets, then went inside the house and shot him. One stayed in front of the shop and the other went inside where he was eating and shot him," said a witness to the incident.

As a result of the shooting, 25-year-old Ko Aung Lwin Ngain received multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. "He was a singer who had released two albums. He actively worked for his village to get electricity and for village development. He was not a politician. They just accused him of being a 'Dalan' and shot him. I heard he was shot about seven times. He died from a head wound," the source continued.

The victim's body was taken to Myingyan Township People's Hospital and was cremated at Myaungyegon Village Cemetery on 6 July.
