Reports from the MNDAA-controlled town of Laukkai indicate that approximately 500 Bamar ethnics or Burmese living in Laukkai have been arrested by the racist MNDAA soldiers. A local shared a TikTok video detailing the ongoing mass detentions.

The MNDAA is reportedly requiring residents in their controlled areas to obtain residence permits, and those who fail to comply are being detained. However, Burmese (the Bamar ethnics) are being arrested regardless of whether they have obtained the permits.

"The situation in Laukkai has significantly deteriorated. The Burmese are beaing arrested indiscriminately, regardless of whether they possess the necessary documents or have the support of the authorities. Currently, approximately 400 to 500 individuals are detained by the racist MNDAAs, and it remains unclear if they will be released. All Burmese individuals are being subjected to the neo-Nazism of the MNDAAs. From the outset, if Bamar ethnics are not permitted entry; why were they compelled to obtain these documents? Even after securing the necessary permits, the Burmese continue to face being arrested. What options are left for the Burmese?" said the man in the video.

There are also warnings that all Burmese residents are at risk of arrest, including the business owners who have employed the Burmese. There's concern that detainees will be forced into labour for the MNDAA. To avoid these dangers, there are urges for people to leave the area if possible.

However, the MNDAA stated on 30 July to protect foreign investments including China investments and properties.
