AA insurgents demolished all developments in Paletwa and are exercising divide and rule policy against the Bamar ethnics after gaining control of the township, according to the reports inquired by The NP News to a Paletwa resident.
“After they gained control of the Paletwa Township, they set their administrative mechanism. Some ethnicities including Bamar people are struggling to live. The transportation channels of both seaways and cargo routes were also blocked. The residents are not allowed to pass their gates. But people who have good relations with AA can do,” the resident said.
In addition, AA insurgents do not accept speaking Burmese in the township, the resident added.
“They only accept Rakhine language to speak since there are more Rakhine people than other ethnicities. Although Paletwa is a township of Khami indigenous, only Rakhine language is used as the main language,” the resident mentioned.
Regarding the issue of Khami indigenous, “The AA suppresses Khami people since they don’t even accept speaking in Burmese. There is only one ward where Khami people live in Paletwa. Some of them were displaced to other places. But most Khami people have stayed separate for years. The situation is getting tense after the AA invaded the township,” he said.
In addition, “The AA restricts celebrating Thingyan traditional festival by forcing not to play songs, not to dance, and not to go out. This is the order they inserted,” the resident added.
The AA troops are aligned with the MNDAA and TNLA insurgents; and initiated the clashes in northern Shan State under the title of Operation 1027 since 2023. As a result, the clashes had flamed many townships and left destructions on the public properties.
Those townships where the battles occurred, were knocked down suspending all trade channels and transportation routes causing the public to struggle with the rise of prices of commodities domestically.
