Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) is assisting in producing electricity from rice husks for broad use in Myanmar, according to the president of the MRF, U Ye Min Aung.
The MRF president U Ye Min Aung delivered the speech as mentioned during the media press conference held on 12 August at the meeting hall of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) in Yangon.
During the meeting, “In order to be developed and to broadly use of rice husks to produce electricity in Myanmar, discussions are underway to assist through technology and intermediating with banks and relevant authorities including providing rice husks as a development partner,” MRF president said.
To produce electricity, rice husks can be used in two different ways – gasifier and boiler turbine. In the gasifier process, electricity can be produced from burning rice husks producing gas passing through generators. In the process of the boiler turbine, rice husks are used to be fired producing steam through the boiler generating turbine, according to the MRF president.
In Myanmar, electricity is generated by using rice husks through boiler turbine systems, especially in Kyaiklatt, Myaungmya and Pantanaw in Ayeyawady and Thilawa in Yangon. It is also reported that electricity produced by the rice husks from the paddy fields in Ayeyawady Region is expected to cover the regional usage.
Therefore, encouragements and assistance including financial loans are hoped to aid those enterprises to promote the electricity generation.
