Hsu (NP News) - Oct 4
The three Kayin armed organizations have jointly declared their belief that all ongoing domestic conflicts can be resolved through multi-party democratic elections.
They also announced their full collaboration in the electoral process. To ensure election participation, they will cooperate with all groups to prevent any harm, casualties, or losses.
The statement was issued after a September 28 meeting among senior leaders of the three organizations: the Border Guard Force (BGF/KNA), the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA), and the Karen National Union/Karen National Liberation Army–Peace Council (KNU/KNLA-PC).
The three organizations view the upcoming multi-party democratic elections in December as a means to resolve Myanmar's numerous conflicts, establish a democratically elected government, and promote peace, stability, and development. They expressed their confidence that this would also lead to a more peaceful and stable life for the people of Kayin State.
Phase (1) of the elections, covering 102 townships nationwide, will begin on December 28, the Union Election Commission announced. –
