A Myanmar Fire Service Department official told The Statesman that only four people remain missing nationwide amid collapsed buildings after the powerful Mandalay earthquake.
Of the five people who were reported missing before October 30, one body was found in Naypyidaw at around 7:00 am on October 30.
“The search and rescue operations reached up to AFR Level 5, but it was unable to locate the missing person. Since international search and rescue teams had also officially confirmed this, the body was found only in areas where machinery was allowed to clear debris. The hotel has also confirmed the missing person’s status. With this discovery, in the list of missing persons in Naypyidaw, one individual has been found, so the death toll increases by one and the number of missing decreases by one,” said the responsible official.
Therefore, according to statistics, there are currently 3,819 deaths, 5,104 injuries, and four missing people due to the powerful Mandalay earthquake.
